Lakshmi’s NTR is a much awaited south indian biographical drama film directed by Ram Gopal Varma featuring the story of ex-cm of Andhra Pradesh and legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao from the view point of his second wife Lakshmi.
It basically shows the moments of NTR’s life during his political downfall after 1989 elections. The controversies behind the downfall and role of current chief minister of andhra pradesh ,Chandrababu Naidu ( CBN) in that is narrated from Lakshmi’s point of view.
Today [ 14/02/19] a trailer has been released on youtube which clearly shows that the movie is completely based on events after the year 1989 and not the whole biopic of senior NTR. In 1989 general elections after serving two consecutive terms as chief minister,NTR was voted out due to a wave of anti-incumbency sweeping the state as a result of which the Congress returned to power. He returned back to power in 1994 with his party in alliance with the Left Front and this is when according to people like lakshmi parvati and other close aides of NTR believe that Chandrababu Naidu took advantage to dethrone NTR and take lead of the Telegu Desam Party (TDP).
We can see in the trailer that main focus of the betryal is kept on CBN. In certain scenes we also seen glimpses of NTr’s family turning against him during his old age and downfall. In a particular seen we can cleary recognize Balakrishna, one of the son’s of NTr allegedly questioning his father about his needs for a woman at that age.
When the title of the movie was announced it stirred controversies in Tollywood and aslo in the AP politics as the CBN is currently the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Even the Chandrababu Naidu has always been facing these allegations since his becoming the chief minister in 1995 but this is the first time a movie is ever being made on this controversial topic. The 2019 general elections date is yet to be announced .
Will this movie have any impact on the coming elections in Andhra Pradesh? Is the movie’s release timings are a political strategy for the opposition?? It is yet to be decided.
